1950 on which Indian Constitution came into force replacing the
Govt of India Act 1935.
Whereas Indepence Day is celebrated on August 15 at Red Fort Republic Day celebrations are celebrated at Rajpath

Republic Day celebrations take place on
this day. The main republic day celebrations are held at Rajpath, New Delhi
before President of India.On this day, ceremonious parade takes place at Raj
path in tribute to India, for its unity in Diversity and rich cultural
diversity. Commencing from Rashrapathi Bhavan, Raisini Hills, on Rajpath past
India Gate. The parade show cases, India ‘s Defense Capabilities, and cultural
Heritage.
The viewing of Broadcast through
TV Channels lifts the spirits and make one surprise about number of variant
displays of culture.
In this Parade the Defense , rich heritage of the country is
displayed by different states, denoting their special and diversified culture,
an opportunity to enjoy the richness, a show to learn about different cultures
and their way of living.
The celebrations last 3 days.
Band Retreat:
In India it officially denotes the end of republic day celebrations.
It is conducted on the evening of January 29th , The venue is
Raisina Hills and adjacent square , Vijay Chowk , flanked by others and south
block of Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is performed by three wings of military, the
Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.
The Chief Guest for Republic Day celebrations for this Year 2016 is President François Hollande of France.
